Here is a list of the tasks that a celebrant will perform.
- Taking time to respond to enquiries about ceremonies
- Initial and follow on meetings with the couple getting to know them and their love story
- Phone calls, emails about ideas, inclusions and readings for the ceremony
- Receiving your Notice of Intended Marriage and witnessing signatures
- Ensuring all identity documentation is checked
- Writing and preparing drafts of your ceremony and continually doing so until it meets your approval
- A rehearsal so everyone is comfortable with positioning on the day
- Preparing all documents and Certificates to be signed and presented on the day
- Arriving early to your Ceremony and setting up the PA or other equipment
- Ensuring the space meets safety regulations
- Facilitating Pre Ceremony music
- Greeting your guests
- Conducting the Ceremony, meeting all legal requirements
- Registering the Marriage and sending all required documents to BDM
- Seeking feedback and acting on evaluation to provide a better service
As a Professional Celebrant we must also attend to the following
- Keep up to date with changes in Marriage law and relationships
- Follow the Code of Practice for Celebrants and the Marriage Act 1961
- Pay annual registration fees
- Purchase wedding certificates
- Perform 5 hours per year of Ongoing Professional Development/conferences
- Pay annual Association Insurance and copyright fees
